Supporting Developing Countries: Papua (Indonesia) education

DSC03868-e1425170650665Papua (Indonesia) is an Indonesian province which is very poor, with little tourism and many issues with infrastructure in roads, communications etc. Working there on a Asian Development Bank project which is evaluating ICT in education to support policy directions for the future is a humbling experience. Despite many frustrations with internet connectivity while working there, there are so many joys. Not least, visiting schools up to five hours away from the capital city (locations in which no internet or computers for student use exist), and the smiles and respect of beautiful children. Or seeing groups of students gathered around a computer in crowded and simple facilities, and really working together to learn!
